WHAT IS CATCARDS ?
"3712 CATCARDS" are the cards of faith used as the catechetical references and formation in the Roman Catholic Church. As the name indicates, "CATCARDS" is the abbreviation of CARDS OF THE CATECHISM, in which the faith-based information is printed at each back side of the animated image. A short and precise message is summarized from the content in reference to the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCCC). It is evident that the Bible and Tradition are inseparable sources of revelation for the Catholic faith. There are total 45 cards which are categorized in accordance of the four pillars of the Apostles’Creed, Sacraments, Commandments and the Lord’s prayer, as stated in the Catholic Catechism. The biblical and doctrinal references are directly quoted from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), in parallel with the quotation from CCCC as well as the YOUCAT. At the end of each card, reflection of faith and life, and the mode of prayers are provided for the use of the Catholic groups.
THE PRINCIPLE OF THE CATCARDS' CATECHESIS IS BASED ON THE EVANGELII GAUDIUM NO.126 "WAY OF BEAUTY"
The edition of the CATCARDS makes witness of the catechetical spirit inspired by Pope Francis in his evangelical apostolic exhortation: “every form of catechesis would do well to attend to the way of beauty” (via pulchritudinis)…… as a path leading to an encounter with the Lord Jesus…… as a means of touching the human heart and enabling the truth and goodness of the Risen Christ” (Evangelii Gaudium n.126). Based on the catechetical numbers 3, 7, 10, and 12 derived from the Catechism, the items listed below will provide total 17 kinds of games or activities, which can be applicable to the methods in catechetical teachings as prebaptismal catechesis on the one hand, and played as tools for the formation of faith as well as building up the basic ecclesial community on the other hand.
THE EDITION AND DESIGN OF CATCARDS
The CATCARDS ideas and games of the English version originated from the Chinese version published in Hong Kong in 2019 which is recently updated to the fourth edition. The images of the cards were designed by GRACE LAU while the catechetical message with references, reflection, and prayers are edited by (ANDREW) RICKIE LAM, based on the themes derived from the four pillars of the Catholic catechism. 45 pieces of the faith image cards were developed gradually from drawing and reading scriptures to some card games for Catholic social gathering, faith formation and religious teaching in classes.
IMPRIMATUR WITH ITS MISSION OF FORMATION IN FAITH
Thanks to the support and encouragement of Father Lawrence Li, Secretary General of the Diocese of Hong Kong, the Chinese version of "3712 CATCARDS" activity collection was published. It followed the imprimatur given by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha of Hong Kong while the English version is now gifted with Preface presented by Cardinal Stephen Chow. For the purpose of its practical use, a core team of Catcards has been formed by dedicated members Kenneth Tsao, Louis Lam, Sylvia Shu, Goretti, under the main leadership of Grace Lau (designer) and Andrew Lam (editor). The Catcards team aims at encouraging students graduated from the formation course to actively participate in several training programs and series of courses offered in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, SIngapore, Canada, United States, Australia, England, Italy and so on.
PROMOTION OF CATCARDS FORMATION
Pray that the promotion of the CATCARDS is similar to the miracle of "five loaves and two fishes" for spreading its popularity in service for the new evangelization. May the promotion of Catcards bring about the nourishment of spiritual life for those faithful in order to live out the joy and mission of the gospel.

"YOU-CAT GO" ACTIVITY
The activity "YOU-CAT GO" is used for the youth formation program. 45 cards are possible to be used for youth gathering to study the whole book of YOUCAT according to the numbers given at the back of each card.
